The Mental Health and Physical Conditions  in the APS Population training is designed as a hybrid course with delivery through Independent Study in a virtual setting and a Live Training session including case studies and Q & A.  The platform utilized for this online training is GoToTraining.  It is designed to provide the APS Specialist/Investigator with advanced knowledge related to the mental health and physical conditions seen in the elderly and persons with disabilities.

The Shaken Baby Alliance has partnered with leading experts in the field of medicine and forensics to produce this Best Practice training to meet the needs of APS investigative staff.  The development team and training faculty is composed of professionals including medical providers, law enforcement, educators, and consultants who are recognized as state and national experts in the field of forensics.  All faculty actively work cases in the field of medicine and forensics.  This course has consistently been highly rated in evaluation data and provides up-to-date training for professionals involved in cases involving the elderly and persons with disabilities.  The training is based on the philosophy that investigative and legal professionals with a strong foundational understanding of the medical aspects of conditions related to the elderly and people with disabilities will be provided with the tools necessary to investigate abuse, neglect, and exploitation, and ultimately protect this population.
